The Mackay Musical Comedy Players are thrilled to announce their upcoming production of Goldilocks & The Three Bears, a fresh and playful reimagining of the beloved fairytale that sets the tone for the theatre group's 60th anniversary. This lively, family-friendly pantomime is set to delight audiences with humour, music, and engaging storytelling.
Directed by MMCP Life Member Kristyn Everett, with choreography and co-direction by Leisa Persson (Theatre Bug Mackay) and musical direction by Sharon Thompson (The Voice Studio Mackay), this production promises a theatrical experience that’s both magical and memorable.
Goldilocks & The Three Bears tells the classic story of a curious girl, a family of three bears, and, of course, a bowl of porridge, but with a pantomime twist! Packed with silliness, jokes, daft characters, and plenty of audience participation, this production is perfect for audiences of all ages.

The Great British Songbook is a sit-down music show starring UK singer Craig Martin, a contemporary swing and pop singer at his 5th stop on his 2025 Australian tour. Craig learned to sing and play guitar in his early teens and not much later he was playing in the same clubs and pubs as the Beetles had once performed in. Since then, he’s exploded into the Australian performance scene singing with some of the Aussie greats like Jessica Mauboy and Darren Percival. Mackay Regional Council has approved funding for some fair dinkum community events to celebrate Australia Day 2025.
Funding ranging from $500 to $1000 will support 12 Australia Day celebrations by local not-for-profit groups.
Mayor Greg Williamson said there was a wide range of events and locations on offer.
“From social cricket and a sausage sizzle at Seaforth to beach games and races at Grasstree Beach, there really is something for the whole family to enjoy,” Mayor Williamson said.
“The Australia Day events are being held across the Mackay region from Armstrong Beach to the Mackay City Centre, north to St Helens Beach and west to Habana,” he said.
“Held at various times throughout the day and at 12 locations across the region, the events are a perfect opportunity to celebrate what makes our region great.”
To be eligible for funding, all events had to be held on the Australia Day public holiday (Sunday, January 26), be free for all to attend and be within the Mackay Regional Council area.
Please note some events may have a fee for some rides, activities, food or drinks.
