Read the full story“We're a full makeup, full theatrical, Kiss Tribute Show”, founding member of ‘Kiss Thiss’, Lindsay West enthused.
Emulating the legendary concert experience of Kiss, four bandmates ranging from police officers to tradies in their day-to-day lives – deliver a spectacular performance complete with authentic makeup, costumes and even the same guitars used by Kiss.
“We also do the fire breathing, blood spitting and smoking guitar,” Lindsay added.
The band want their audience to have the complete Kiss experience and have all the effects and props to ensure that they get that.
Starting up due to Kiss not touring “all that much”, the die-hard fans created the band which is in its remarkable 21st year, having performed the act since 2003. Lindsay added how the band was a “good outlet” for the members.
The four band-mates are eager to showcase what they have got at the Airlie Beach Hotel where they will be performing their Kiss act, with a few additional non-kiss related songs.
After their main performance, Lindsay added that the band will “scrub their faces and get changed,” for a finishing traditional party cover set.
Lindsay reminisced over the band's highlights this year, which included touring on some international cruise lines and performing at the New Year's Eve Festival in Mackay.
The band are really excited to get over to Airlie Beach and perform at the Airlie Beach Hotel, where Lindsay says they have “never been before.”
Lindsay added, that they are excited to get out of cold Melbourne which is currently “eight degrees,” and come up to the sunny Whitsundays, which he has heard has much better weather.
The band has also been wanting to come and play in Airlie for a long time:
“We have been trying to get up to Airlie for a few years now. Now that we're being given the shot, we hope it's the first of many.”

“The Whitsunday Wealth Festival Hub is a core Festival of Arts event that has always been about providing free entertainment, street food and plenty of room for people to gather and enjoy the atmosphere,” Cr Hassan said.
“This year the Festivals Team have done something special in that each night will have a different genre and a bit of a different theme,” she said.
“For example, on Friday night there’s a bit of a ‘hillbilly’ theme and festivalgoers can take turns on a free mechanical bucking bull.
“The team have also organised for the popular Riverside Mega Markets to be at the quay on Thursday and Friday nights and they will be set up in part of the Brisbane Street carpark.”
The line-up for the four nights is an exciting mix of high-energy genres and influences.
On Thursday, from 5.30pm to late, there will be “rockin' rhythm and blues” with The Wild Sky.
The Wild Sky is the perfect three-piece rock 'n' roll outfit to kick off the hub experience.
Expect sophisticated melodies, a seamless blend of rhythm, blues and a dose of funk.
On Friday, from 5.30pm to late, the Quay will come alive with folk and old-time mountain music thanks to the Hillbilly Goats.
Featuring banjo, bones, double bass, fiddle, tap-dancing, three-part harmonies and more, the Hillbilly Goats aren’t just a band – they’re a show!
Then, on Saturday, from 4pm until late, it’s all about the swing and rockabilly with Joshy J and the Ricochets.
Put on your best dancing shoes, grease up that hair and get ready to boogie to the tunes of yesteryear!
Finally, on Sunday, from 4pm to late, it will be a festival fiesta with Viva and band.
Prepare for a sensational dance fiesta as the Bluewater Quay is transformed into a vibrant paradise with a Latin flavour!
Bands will play from 6pm to 9.15pm on weekdays and 5pm to 8.15pm on the weekend.
Street food will vary nightly between the weekdays and weekend, but will include burgers and fried chicken, kebabs, crepes, ribs and ice cream.

Director of Catholic Education in the Diocese of Rockhampton, Miss Leesa Jeffcoat AM was farewelled by the Diocese at a Mass of Thanksgiving at St Joseph’s Cathedral, Rockhampton followed by a Reception at Rockhampton Leagues Club as she concludes her time as Director after more than two decades in the role.
Catholic Education sector leaders and representatives from across Queensland and Australia were in attendance, together with many Priests and Religious, government representatives, Catholic School Principals, Catholic Education Directors and Leaders.
Hundreds of students and staff filled St Joseph’s Cathedral for the Mass, and many more from Catholic schools across the Diocese in centres from Mackay to Bundaberg and west to Longreach tuned in via livestream.
Miss Jeffcoat said she had been humbled to have served as Diocesan Director of Catholic Education for the past 23 years, but she knew this was the right time for a new Director to lead the ministry of Catholic Education into an exciting future.
“I am sad to be ending a time in my professional life that has given me great personal and professional satisfaction, but I leave feeling truly blessed for the opportunities afforded to me through my lifelong association with Catholic Education as a student, teacher and leader,” Miss Jeffcoat said.
Miss Jeffcoat thanked current Diocese of Rockhampton Bishop, Michael McCarthy and before that Bishop Emeritus Brian Heenan for their wise and pastoral leadership of the Diocese.
“I offer both Bishop Michael McCarthy and Bishop Emeritus Brian Heenan my heartfelt appreciation for their prayerful support, their encouragement, their guidance and above all their loving care,” Miss Jeffcoat said.
Bishop Michael expressed deep appreciation for Miss Jeffcoat’s unwavering support of the Diocese, for the Church and all Catholic Education staff.
“Within the 10 kindergartens, 39 schools and colleges under her direction, Leesa has done an extraordinary job of ensuring that our young people receive the very best in Catholic education and are supported by excellent teachers and staff on their faith journey,” Bishop Michael said.
“Leesa has generously given of herself as Director and has assisted me in so many ways, especially settling me into the diocese and then being a very wise colleague,” he said.
Miss Jeffcoat said she wished to sincerely thank her professional colleagues, both past and present, for the trust they had placed in her to serve as Director over the past 23 years.
“I thank our wonderful teachers for their loyalty and support, and I am also very grateful to the Priests, Religious, Principals and leaders, parents, students, teachers, support staff and all in our Catholic Education family for their prayers, their encouragement, and their care of me” Miss Jeffcoat said.
Miss Jeffcoat officially concludes her time at the end of 2024 following a period of leave during Semester 2 with newly appointed Director, Michael McCusker commencing in role in July.
