Sugar City Art Deco Walking Tour

Saturday, 6:00pm

The award-winning Art Deco Night tours of the Sugar City Art Deco Modernism Society have released the new dates for 2022, with the first tour happening this Saturday. Mackay's architecture is unusual compared to that of other cities in Queensland. The Art Deco style was not limited to a particular type of building. It was used for picture theatres, shops and hotels. Although settled in the 1860s, most buildings in the city centre were designed and constructed within the first three decades of the 20th Century; thus, Mackay has one of the best collections of Art Deco buildings in Queensland. The Art Deco Night tours of the city start at 6:00 pm in front of The Australian Hotel before heading off down Victoria Street and the surrounding city area. Discover buildings rich in historical significance to the time period and hear about our local Mackay heritage. Please visit the Mackay Art Deco website to book a ticket.
