The Cannonvale Cannons hosted their last Club Night for the 2023-2024 season.
The Cannons would like to commend the 5 swimmers who have set new Club Records over the past month. Congratulations to Jax Clayworth (10 yrs) for setting 25 metre Butterfly record, Ehsan Helou (15yrs) for setting 50 metre & 100 metre Breaststroke records, Jacob Bell (17yrs) for setting 200 metre IM & 800 metre Freestyle records and Jy Parkinson (18 yrs) for 50 metre Butterfly record.
Amanda Camm MP visited the Cannons on Wednesday night and presented club awards. Amanda presented Matilda Nicholes, Celeste Orenshaw, Sophie Palmero, Abi Maher, Tiana Bell, Don Algie, and Zach Trefz with Upgrade Certificates. Amanda also presented the Chocolate awards to Zach Trefz and Jack Ganter for their awesome PBs. Amanda also presented Stella Mulliss (5 yrs) with the Coaches Award for her 12 metre Backstroke.
During the week, four Cannonvale swimmers were named in the NQ School team for water polo. The Cannons would like to wish Holly Perrin, Jacob Bell, Tiana Bell and Tane Dennison the best of luck at the Queensland Championships.
Over the weekend, Don Algie travelled to Cairns to compete at the NQ Games. Don’s best swims include: silver medal in the 50 metre Breaststroke in a time of 44.22 seconds (a 1.52 second PB) and bronze medal swims in 50 metre Butterfly (with 3.10 second PB) and 200 metre Freestyle (3.78 second PB). Congratulations, Don!
Cannonvale swimmers continue to keep up their swimming for their fitness, while others have their sights on a Pioneer carnival or the open water/triathlon season. The Cannonvale Cannons are looking forward to the annual Presentation Night which will be held on 1st June.
